Stigma and Substance Abuse Disorders

Stigma surrounding addiction often prevents people with substance use disorders from seeking the help they need. In an effort to raise awareness of this and combat the state’s opioid epidemic, the Maryland Department of Health has launched a series of videos stressing the need to view opioid addiction as a disease to be treated rather than a moral failing to be judged.
