department employees and friends and neighbors
of public health are having a large yard sale from 7
a.m. – noon in the health
department parking lot. All Proceeds will
benefit Health Share Inc. of St. Mary’s. The event
will be held rain or shine.

Health and Safety Fair
and Flower Sale
Come out from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for
a day dedicated to the health and safety of your
family. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of St.
Mary’s County, the fair will be held in the Target
parking lot in California, MD. Meet Opie Otter
and take part in free health screenings and car seat
inspections. Visit other vendors providing
information about health and safety. Proceeds
from the flower sale benefits St. Mary’s Hospital
CPR training for parents of infants and toddlers
with special needs.

Department is “Going Green” for the week, educating
the public about the connection between the health
of our Planet and the health of our communities,
families and children. St. Mary’s County
Public School children will display posters
featuring Choices individuals can make for the
environment and for better health. The posters
will be on display at the 2008 Public Health Heroes
Breakfast, and at the St. Mary’s College Earth Day
celebration.

Leonardtown. No smoking please anywhere on the
health department campus! Restaurants and bars
will not longer allow smoking in their
establishments. Please help business adhere to
the new regulations by refraining from smoking in
their establishments and reporting violations to the
Environmental Health Services division of the health
department.
