St. Mary’s County Health Department is the lead agency for the St. Mary’s County Infants and Toddlers Program, an interagency program developed to assist families in finding help for their children with special needs. The program is a family-centered system of early intervention services for children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays and disabilities.

The Individuals with Disabilities Act requires the provision of interagency early intervention services that are coordinated, comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and flexible. Services are provided according to an Individualized Family Service Plan, as determined appropriate by members of an early intervention team. Parents are valued as important members of that team.
Who is Eligible?
Your child and family may be eligible if your child is under three years of age, and:

has a developmental delay of 25 percent or more in one or more of these areas

has a diagnosed physical or mental condition that will most likely result in developmental delay, or
-
demonstrates atypical development or behavior that is likely to result in delay, even when an actual 25 percent delay has not been identified.
