Sanitary Sewer Leak Overflow Reported by MetCom

LEONARDTOWN, MD (June 5, 2019) – The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is reporting a sanitary sewer leak overflow that occurred on June 5, 2019 in the area of 20268 Piney Point Road south to 20140 Piney Point Road.

St. Mary’s Metropolitan Commission staff responded immediately upon notification of the leak at 9:47 a.m., the leak was contained by approximately 12:30 p.m., and final repairs were completed by 1:00 p.m.

The sanitary sewer leak occurred as a result of a pipe failure. The public is advised to avoid any contact with standing water in the immediate area for seven days. Drinking water supplies were not affected in any way, and water remains safe for use.
