Access Healthcare Event Scheduled in Lexington Park

LEONARDTOWN, MD (September 2, 2014) – Members of the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership are organizing a community event to promote access to health care on Monday, September 15th from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Lexington Park Library.  The Access Healthcare event is free and open to the public.  St. Mary’s County residents who drop by can get information about what private and public health insurance options are available in Maryland.  Residents can also learn about lower private health insurance premiums, eligibility for Medicaid, local transportation options, and other community services that help residents access health care.  More information about the event is available at www.healthystmarys.com.

The Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership is a community-driven coalition of public and private partners working together to address priority health issues for St. Mary’s County.  The Access to Care action team of the partnership brings together community organizations and residents to improve the availability of health care providers, address barriers to accessing health care, and increase residents’ understanding of their own health care.

Coalition meetings are open to the public and membership is free for interested organizations and community members.  For more information about the Healthy St. Mary’s Partnership, please visit www.healthystmarys.com or contact the St. Mary’s County Health Department at (301) 475-4330.
